Overnight.

11.45pm

The group settled down to wait and see what, if anything would happen. All were a little apprehensive to say the least, all except one who went to sleep in Eleanor’s room on his own!

The night started very quietly, we heard the odd strange noise from upstairs, door latches being shut, what sounded like light footsteps but very little else.

A number of the group went upstairs to see what they could capture on film and tape. In the John Wall’s room a voice was caught on audio, it sounds like a male voice possibly saying “danger”. The pair did not hear the voice at the time.

It stayed very quiet until around 3am, one more of the group had gone to sleep in Eleanor’s room and the rest were sitting in the great hall  talking. A loud clanging noise was heard several times coming from the kitchen, as though a pan was being hit by a piece of cutlery.

At around 3.30 all but 4 of the group settled down to sleep in the extension to the great hall, at 3.55 loud distinct footsteps where heard coming through the chapel towards the great hall, I am sorry to say that this caused the 4 left awake to rapidly join the 4 asleep in the corner of the room! I’m not sure who was more frightened those of us who heard them or the rest being woken up by for screaming women running towards them. The rest of the night passed without incident.

At 8am a few if us went up to Eleanor’s room to see if we could make contact with her. One of us felt as though they where holding her hand. The strangest thing about the experience was her inability to leave the room or lift her arm up. The hair on the right hand side of her head also appeared to have some sort of static charge acting on it and could be seen moving.

We all left at around 9am after thanking the guide for an interesting evening, we returned to our normal lives, maybe just a little different for the experience. I have no doubt some of us will return, others won’t, but when all is said and done we raised a lot of money for very worthy causes.
